Who Will Be The Citizen Of The Year 2023?  - Voice

Who will be the best citizen of the year 2023? It is up to the residents to nominate for this prestigious honor. Nominations are due Monday, April 17. Make a choice and write about the many achievements that have made our city better. A Citizens Advisory Committee will make the selection after vetting several candidates. The winner will be honored at a special banquet at Cedar Glen on August 15th. Riding in the Bay-Rama parade in June is also part of the honor. Head over to the new Baltimore City website and get busy nominating your choice. Our Town column will happily announce the winner.

NB RECREATION NEWS: Reservations are being taken at the New Baltimore Recreation Office’s new location, Aquatic Center, 52401 Ashley. This is also the meeting point for the following trips: April 20: Detroit trip to “Cork City and Mexico City” for $70 including lunch. Departure at 8.30am with 5pm; May 18: to visit the Federal Reserve Bank of Detroit and a tour of Hittsville, USA, at $75 per person, with an 8:00 departure lunch and a 2:30 return time; May 19, Greektown Casino, $35 per person, 9 a.m. and return time 4 p.m. Activities at the center are Monday and Wednesday from 1-4 p.m., learning and playing the game of euchre, and hand and foot play. April 21 ABCF Scholarship Applications Deadline: Anchor Bay High seniors, graduating in 2023, are welcome to apply for the many scholarships administered by the Anchor Bay Community Foundation. Twenty-seven scholarships are available with applications available in the ABHS Counseling Office. Or, go to abcf.us. There are also applications in the Counseling Office for general studies in the names of Bob Johnson and Greg Bayer and the New Baltimore Lions Club Business School Scholarship.

April 21 Christian K-College Scholarship Applications Deadline: Administered by the Anchor Bay Community Foundation, scholarships are available to Macomb County families struggling to provide a Christian education for youth from kindergarten through college. Beach Glass Class April 22: Ira Town Hall, 7085 Meldrum, is the place to learn how to make a 22-inch sunburst and/or bracelet, necklace or earrings, 11 a.m. Bring your own beach glass. , if desired. Teacher Christine Black shows the details of this fun project. Register at the City of Ira office between 1:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. (closed for lunch 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.), with a check made payable to the City of Ira, or drop the check in the drop box in the parking lot, next to the beach. April 25 Come Out For Firefighters: Call Shirley at 586-531-1934. On Senior Day at the Casino, the motor coach leaves at 8 am from the Lowes parking lot at 27900 23 Mile Chesterfield (please arrive by 7:45 am). The cost is $45 per person, which includes transportation, snacks, bottled water, a movie, and driver tips. The casino offers $20 in card games and $5 food coupons. Be with friends and enjoy a day away in Battle Creek.

April 25-May 30 Dog Obedience Class: Call the new Baltimore Parks and Recreation office at 586-725-0291 for more information and to register your pet 5 months and older. Check for rabies and PHLLP vaccinations. Have fun with your dog as they experience sensory and communication exercises, management and redirection techniques.

APRIL 27 KEN SHRAMM NBHS SPEAKER: The new Baltimore Historical Society is excited to have Mr. Schramm, historian, as their next speaker on the area’s railroad history. He will be speaking in our town at the MacDonald Public Library 36480 Main at 6:30 p.m. Be there to learn how trains have been a part of Macomb County’s history, even in New Baltimore. Renovation.

April 27-29 Rummage Sale News: St. Mary the Queen Parish Center 50931 Mary will have a spring sale Thursday and Friday from 10am to 4pm, but this time it’s from 9am to 3pm. Sales always have interesting items.

April 28 1st Annual Kentucky Derby Extravaganza: A night of fun at Algonac VFW Post 3901, 1005 Pointe Tremble Road, Algonac, is ahead. Doors open at 6.30pm for an evening of bonbon decorating, with classic silk, bohemian burles and straw or straw in 1970s embellishments. Flowers, pearls, feathers, ribbons, ornaments and charms. May 6 NBHS Museum Reopening: Stop by from noon to 2:00 p.m. and visit the New Baltimore Historical Society museum and board members in attendance. Be there to see what’s on display, both historic and modern, and learn about the history of our wonderful city through exhibits and photographs. May 21 NBIC Concert: The New Baltimore Interfaith Choir will present the 2023 Spring Concert “Song” on Sunday at 2pm at Lighthouse Bible Church 52260 Washington in our city. Children in the audience sing patriotic songs and the military, active and retired, are honored. It will be an afternoon of music that inspires joy among all attendees. Sandra Valley Fern is an excellent companion. There are singles, vocal ensembles and ballads for Americans that tell the story of the founding of our great country. Don’t miss it! ARK ENCOUNTER SEPT 25-26: Reservations are being accepted at Laura Stone, 586-424-5674 for a trip to Kentucky to visit and see the giant man-made Noah’s Ark and Museum. The fee is $262, and there are double occupancy, single occupancy and triple occupancy. IRA TOWNSHIP PARK PAVILION AVAILABLE FOR RENT The fee is $50 for residents and $100 for non-residents. Family events and other events are welcome by appointment at the Ira Township Office, 7085 Meldrum. The park is located on a short cut off Meldrum Road. The IRA City Office is open 7am to 5pm (closed 1pm to 1pm) Fill out an application and park use agreement. A reserved sign will appear on the day of the event. Otherwise, the tent is available every day. It’s a nice country atmosphere with equipment for exploring and playgrounds.
