Great Falls Animal Shelter Is One Of 335+ Participating Shelters Nationwide To Reduce Adoption Fees | State

GREAT FALLS — The BISSELL Pet Foundation, a national animal welfare organization dedicated to ending homelessness, is pleased to announce that it will partner with MetLife Pet Insurance on the foundation’s upcoming discounted adoption event. With the common goal of helping pets find and stay in loving homes, this partnership will save lives by expanding the foundation’s reach to include more shelters across the country. From July 6 to July 31, BSL Pet Foundation’s Summer Nationwide “Empty the Shelters” will feature more than 335 shelters in 44 states and pets available for adoption for $50 or less, including the City of Great Falls Animal Shelter.

The City of Great Falls will participate from July 6-31, 2023, offering a $50 adoption fee for dogs and a $25 adoption fee for cats..

In the year Since the BISSELL Pet Foundation began “emptying the shelters” in 2016, nearly 158,000 pets have received second chances at 669 animal welfare organizations in 49 states and Canada. An average of 1,200 shelter pets are adopted at each quarterly national event. Through this partnership and continued support, the Foundation is looking forward to reaching more pets in more shelters and communities during this upcoming event.

“We are thrilled to be able to partner with MetLife Pet Insurance to offer adopters 30 days of pet insurance as well as the opportunity to purchase an annual pet insurance policy. Unexpected illness or injury,” said Cathy Bissell, founder of the BISSELL Pet Foundation.

“Pet costs add up quickly, and often pet owners forego care or surrender their beloved pets when they cannot afford medical care. This collaboration will allow many pets in many communities to ’empty the shelters’ and facilitate adoptions for people seeking treatment to keep their pets healthy and in their new homes.

The City of Great Falls Animal Shelter, along with the Bissell Pet Foundation, offers low-cost adoption options to the area several times a year. “Our goal is to give our beloved animals a second chance to find their forever homes,” said Laramie Smovir, volunteer coordinator at the City of Great Falls Animal Shelter. These partnerships embody our unwavering commitment to the well-being of our fur residents as we strive to break down barriers and make adoption accessible to all.

The BISSELL Pet Foundation and the City of Great Falls Animal Shelter urge families looking to adopt to do their research on pets and adoption requirements.
