After they broke up, she allegedly tipped the money to her ex after he accused her of taking the golden retriever they owned together. Despite viewers telling her she shouldn’t lose the money, Confortini told Insider it was well spent to keep her “peace of mind.”
The conflict first began after Confortini and her ex split earlier this year, and she was moving out of their shared apartment.
“Bella, I had 100% initial fear,” Confortini said on TikTok. “That’s really all I’m worried about.”
According to Confortini, the breakup date was “very heated” and ended with a police visit. When her ex came home from work, he said he was taking Bella to his parents’ house and Confortini told her to say goodbye, she said in the video. When she tried to leave with Bella, she said her ex locked the door on her, prompting her to call the police.
The police eventually let Confortini take Bella home, but told the former couple to report the situation themselves.
Although Bella was registered to Confortini and her ex, according to an insider’s certificate from the American Kennel Club, the former filed a civil complaint on March 6, buying Bella from the breeder for $1,000 and Confortini “not paying Bella any compensation,” the complaint said.
Confortini disputed this account and provided screenshots of transactions showing she paid for half of the dog, as well as screenshots of Bella’s subsequent pet bills and pet insurance that only listed her name.
About the saga of the second TikTok, Confortini said she talked to a lawyer about working out a custody agreement with her ex before she received her complaint. But the ex refused to sign the signature.

A copy of the civil complaint filed against Confortini asks for “the return of the dog with monetary damages.” But “in the alternative, the plaintiff seeks an amount of $5,000 in both costs and punitive damages against the defendant,” he said.
Confortini has had several issues with her ex’s claims in a civil suit against her. For one, Bella shelled out $1,200 — not $1,000 — and says the two cost about the same. (She gave Insider a screenshot from her bank app showing an ATM withdrawal of $503.75 on April 16, 2022 — the date of the withdrawal — as well as a $100 Venmo transfer to her ex a month earlier, along with a puppy emoji in the caption.)
Commenters on TikTok were mostly on Confortini’s side, but some wondered if there was another side to the story.
One commenter wrote, “The reason she’s paying is because she knows she’s wrong and she’s still trash talking him.”
“I can’t believe you gave him 5k,” responded another.
Confortini responded to some of these criticisms, he added They had sex. After finally weighing her options, she decided that paying her ex to keep Bella was the best option.
In the third videoConfortini first revealed her sum and said she was confident she could win in court – although the lawyer she was consulting said the legal fees could be as high as $5,000.
At the end of the day, she decided to write the check saying she was proud of not letting him take the dog and being able to pay herself financially.
“I think the peace of mind and knowing it’s all over is worth the money to me,” she said.
