“There are no good lawyers in Burler County,” Hodges said. “Because there are many different types of laws. It is a wide category but I am happy that people chose me.
Hodges said he always knew “deep down” that he wanted to be a lawyer, but after working part-time and attending the University of Miami, he turned to law later in life.
The Hamilton native was 32 years old with Salmon P. After graduating from law school, Chase became a lawyer. He went to work in a large company in Cincinnati.

Hodges worked in criminal defense early in his career, but it was while working as a law clerk that he developed the type of law that suited him – personal injury, including car accidents and dog bites.
Civil cases are slower than criminal ones, which means he can spend more time with his family.
“Many issues are negotiable,” Hodges said. “My clients have been hurt in one way or another, so we do a lot with medical records, medical bills, health insurance and experts.”
He said he doesn’t like insurance companies and enjoys going against them in court.
“You’re helping someone who’s had a bad experience through no fault of theirs, and you’re basically fighting for them. A type of David against Goliath. Insurance companies have a lot of money, a lot of resources, and a lot of our customers are regular seniors,” Hodges said.
Before Hodges became a lawyer, when he was the victim of a rear-end collision, an insurance company pulled his claim, and it took him all summer to fix the car.
“That always leaves a bad taste in my mouth,” Hodges said.
