The American Red Cross offers the following advice regarding pet and fire safety. Keep pets near the entrance when they are away from home. Keep pets and harnesses ready in case firefighters need to rescue them. When leaving pets alone, keep them in areas or rooms where firefighters can easily find them.

Place a pet alarm window sticker and write down the number of pets in your home and attach the stationary sticker to the front window. This vital information will save rescuers time in finding your pet. Visit to update the number of pets listed Red Cross Website for more information on pet safety.
